Oral care pouch labels and claims: an evidence checklist
Check ingredient facts, sensory statements, appearance claims and disease claims separately, using the exact proposed wording.

Inventory every claim
Review the can, carton, website, images, distributor copy and social content together. A claim can be implied by imagery or product naming as well as by a sentence. Record the wording and intended audience so that a reviewer can assess the whole presentation instead of one isolated disclaimer.
Match the evidence to the statement
A composition statement needs verified formula and supply-chain information. A sensory statement needs an appropriate evaluation. A whitening or other efficacy claim needs finished-product evidence for the claimed endpoint and conditions of use. Disease-treatment claims need specialist classification and authorization review before use.
Keep artwork under change control
Link the approved artwork to a formula, pack and market version. An ingredient substitution, count change or new claim can trigger a review. Nicotine-free, tobacco-free, caffeine-free, fluoride-free, sugar-free and animal-origin statements need their own basis. Not intentionally added and not detected are different statements and should not be interchanged.
Working checklist
| Statement | Evidence question | Review action |
|---|---|---|
| Ingredient fact | Does the formula support it? | Verify material and label data |
| Sensory description | How was it evaluated? | Retain method and observations |
| Appearance claim | What endpoint and finished product? | Assess study and wording |
| Disease claim | Does it change classification? | Obtain specialist review |
| Environmental claim | Which material and conditions? | Require claim-specific evidence |
